Dendrocalamus latiflorus 'Munro' also known as Taiwan Giant Bamboo, Sweet Bamboo,  Ma Zhu Bamboo, Sweet Bamboo Shoot, and Ma-chiku bamboo, is a giant, clumping species of tropical and subtropical bamboo. 

Originally from East Asia specifically in southern China, Myanmar, and Vietnam, it features dense evergreen foliage with strong, erect culms.Young shoots are edible either raw or cooked. Mature culms are used for building construction, and for pipes, paper pulp, rafts, and sturdy baskets. D. latiflorus is gaining popularity as ornamental plant in the bamboo garden, and for an impressive living bamboo hedge.
